Moparpalooza 2014

Moparpalooza has grown year after year and I’ve enjoyed each of the last three years I have attended. What started off as a local modern Mopar show has become a regional event attracting the attention of Dodge, who had a strong presence at the show. This year’s show was the largest Moparpalooza and hundreds of quality vehicles came out to compete, especially a lot of Durangos as the Durango Owners Club, of which I’m a member, came out in full force this year.

The one day show was blessed with fantastic weather and a very accessible venue. Past shows were held at Chrysler dealerships and it was possible to be stuck on the back lot where you could be forgotten. This year the venue was a baseball stadium parking lot and all of the vehicles were together on one large lot with easy rows to walk up and down. Having arrived early with the rest of the Durango Owners Club we were able to park together and secure a prime spot in the first row. Foot traffic was good and the show raised $50,000 for the Fisher House Foundation. The Hooter’s girls were also present and we managed to talk them into posing for a photo in front of my Durango!

The judging was handled well and was similar to how it was done at the Carlisle Performance & Style show. After my experience with this judging format only a few weeks prior I was better prepared to show my truck. The judges asked a good number of questions about my truck and I think I did well, though there was heavy competition this year and I didn’t place in the top 3 for my class. I will be back next year with an even stronger offering!
